East Towne Jewelers Featured in Newcastle Place Newsletter

It’s always wonderful to be recognized by one of your favorite customers.

East Towne Jewelers is featured in the Newcastle Place Mequon newsletter. Glenn Schifelbein is a customer of East Towne Jewelers. He has asked me to make a number of pieces of custom jewelry for family, loved ones and caregivers over the past several years.

I worked with Glenn to make custom jewelry from stones he had purchased to create beautiful gifts he wanted to give. He then invited me to dinner to meet some of the recipients of his generous gifts. Glenn is also a resident of Newcastle Place, a senior living community, just minutes from my store in Mequon, WI.

Recently, thanks to Glenn, I was highlighted in the Newcastle Place community newsletter. The article features some of my custom jewelry, talks about my custom jewelry design services and gives a brief history of how East Towne Jewelers came to be.

In the Beginning

Mary Seramur received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees intending to teach at a college or university. Those plans changed in January 1973 when Mary moved home to care for her mom who suffered from complications of a stroke. Her dad died the year her mom had the stroke. Teaching part time (usually in evenings) she was able to care for her mom for the next 10 yrs. In 1979 Mary started the jewelry business on a wholesale level. The retail store was opened in 1984. That began a journey of love creating new jewelry, repurposing old or broken pieces, in addition to repairing treasures in gold, silver and platinum. This coming November Mary will celebrate 37 years in business continuing to serve customers with creative and one-of-a-kind items.

Welcome to the Store

Though the monetary value of heirloom jewelry is generally high, the sentimental value is priceless. For that reason, Mary approaches restoration with utmost care. She does a detailed inspection and evaluation, planning the best approach to repair or redesign before suggesting options with the customer. Sometimes bad things happen to good jewelry. It may be broken, missing stones, tarnished or otherwise unwearable. Mary makes them look new.

Designer Jewelry and Diamonds

Custom designed jewelry is a specialty of Mary. Many customers search for unique pieces that are not commercially available. She enjoys working with them and together they create attractive and distinctive items. Last year she was a Newcastle dinner guest, primarily to meet residents that were targeted as recipients for custom jewelry gifts from a fellow resident. What a delightful surprise when they were presented with their gift.
