Did you know that according to Egyptian legend wearing a ruby brings you joy and good fortune?
Interesting Facts About Rubies
According to the International Gem Society, the ruby is considered one of the most historically significant colored stones. The Ruby carries with it a significant amount or symbolism and lore.
The stone of kings, rubies are associated with protection, wealth and power. Some say simply wearing a ruby could help accumulate more wealth and even more gems. (It's worth a try, isn't it?) Some cultures believe a ruby could be worn as personal protection, and that wearing the stone on the left side (heart side) of the body, would allow the bearers to live peacefully. Ancient Burmese soldiers even had the stone inserted in their flesh to protect them from swords and spears. Not something we would recommend!
Rubies also Bring Success in Love
Since ancient times the ruby has remained popular, if simply for its beauty. In the modern world it is still one of the most sought-after gems, including among European royalty and the upper classes. Today we often see rubies used in engagement and wedding rings to guarantee health, wealth, wisdom, and success in love. Rubies make a lovely romantic gift. The ruby is truly an unforgettable gem. Who could forget Dorothy's ruby slippers? Even though they weren't actually rubies, they are some of the most iconic movie props in history. Read about how one of the pairs was stolen from a museum in Minnesota.
